The new Mazda3 sedan in North American

Mazda revealed today at the Australian International Motor Show first images of the all-new Mazda3 (known as Mazda Axela in Japan). Fully redesigned for the first time in 5 years, the Mazda3 will make its public debut in the sheet metal at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19, 2008.

Making up one-third of all Mazda sales totaling 1.8 million units worldwide since 2003, the Mazda3 is a pillar in Mazda's product plan. Therefore, it's no surprise that the new Mazda3 has nicely adopted the same design language from its well received Mazda6 sibling which debuted in Frankfurt last year. Despite the overall design similarities, the Mazda3 differentiates itself with a more aggressive front and rear bumper design.

The new Mazda3 sedan will be presented in North American specification with 2.0- and 2.5-liter engines in Los Angeles. Mazda vaguely hints that the five-door hatchback version will be revealed soon thereafter.

Mazda’s all-new 2010 Mazda3 has made its official world debut at this week’s Los Angeles Auto Show, however the car isn’t set to go on sale until next year along with the reveal of the popular hatchback variant. Since its launch in 2003, the current Mazda3 has sold nearly 1.8 million vehicles in over 100 countries and has won more than 90 global motoring awards to date. Some of the key details include an aggressive front that integrates the lower air intake with a more emphatic and instantly recognizable five-point grille. The fascia lines converge on the center-point at the bottom of the grille. At the rear, the decklid’s surface has a distinctive center crease.
